“I would say, for the next three or four weeks, and we are finished, by the way,” Trump told Time. “We will be finished.”

On the issue of China, which faces the highest tariff rate of the administration, Trump said President Xi called him.
“It’s called. And I don’t think it’s a sign of weakness in his name,” Trump said.
The White House in recent days has softened its position on China, telling journalists that conversations with Beijing were moving in the right direction. But Chinese officials, before Trump’s time interview, disputed the characterization of the White House.
The spokesman of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Guo Jiakun, described the administration’s claims on Thursday, the active discussions were happening “false news.” On Friday, Jiakun said that “China and the United States have not consulted or negotiated on the tariff issue” and “the United States should not confuse the public.”
