At least 5 people killed after the tourist bus who travel back from the Niagara Crashes cataracts: the police

A tourist bus that returns from a trip to the Niagara cataracts overturned in the state of New York on Friday, killing five people and hurting dozens of others, some of whom were trapped or expelled, police said.

The fatal accident occurred in the 90s interest in Pembroke, near Buffalo, according to the New York State Police.

The bus was traveling east when “the vehicle lost control, entered the median, corrected too much and ended in the ditch,” said New York State Police soldier James O’Callaghan, during an informative press session.

Several people were expelled or thrown by the bus when it overturned, according to the commander of the Troop T of the New York State Police, the commander of Major Andre Ray.

Five adults were found dead at the scene, he said.

Almost everyone suffered wounds, including cuts, bruises and abrasions, according to O’Callaghan.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation, although “it is believed that the operator was distracted, lost control, corrected excessively and ended in the right shoulder,” Ray said during an informative press session on Friday night.

The mechanical failure and the deterioration of the operator have been ruled out, and charges have not been presented at this time, he said.

In a statement on Friday night, the National Transport Security Board said it was sending a “GO team” to investigate the fatal accident.

Initially, it was believed that a child was among the deaths, but then it was determined that it was false, Ray said.

Initially, the police said the collision also involved a truck, although he later said that the bus was the only vehicle involved.

The bus was going back to New York City after visiting the Niagara cataracts, with 54 people on board, including two employees of the bus company, police said. The passengers were between 1 and 74, the police said. Most passengers were Indians, Chinese or Filipino, according to O’Callaghan.

The driver survived and “has been cooperative,” Ray said. The bus was operated by M & Y Tour, Inc., based in Staten Island, New York, he said.

The images of the scene showed the side bus on a ditch and a large emergency response, including multiple medical helicopters.

Two dozen patients were transferred to the Erie County Medical Center, with head injuries, limb fractures and other injuries, hospital doctors said. Everyone is expected to recover, they said.

Kaleida Health, who operates multiple hospitals in the area, said he received 20 patients in total, including five children. One of the children remains in serious condition, he said.

The Medical Center of the University of Rochester said that two of the patients who received from the accident are being treated for critical injuries.

In the midst of the rescue operation after the accident, New York governor Kathy Hochul said they informed him about the “tragic tourist bus accident.”

“My team is closely coordinating with @NYSPOLICE and local officials who are working to rescue and provide assistance to all involved,” he said in a Declaration in x Earlier on Friday.

All lanes on the Pembroke route closed following the accident, which occurred east in the I-90. The lanes to the west have reopened since then.
