The FBI has issued a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the alleged gunman in Saturday’s fatal mass shooting at Brown University, as members of the bureau’s Boston Division assisted the Providence Police Department in its search for the gunman.
The FBI released a poster with three images of a person they are looking for, calling him an “unknown suspect” and including a brief description: “The suspect is described as a male, approximately 5’8″ with a stocky build.”
“Today we are sending additional resources and personnel to help track leads, survey neighborhoods and develop intelligence,” said FBI Director Kash Patel. saying Monday night on social media. “Our evidence response team remains on campus processing the scene and our laboratory at Quantico is also assisting.”

The reward for information came as newly released security video showed what local and federal authorities said was a person of interest wanted for questioning in connection with the deadly mass shooting.
Providence police said two students were killed and nine other people were wounded in the shooting that occurred in a classroom in College Hill, the area of Providence’s East Side where historic homes intersect with red brick buildings and modern campuses.

Brown University President Christina H. Paxson said Sunday that the shooting constituted “devastating gun violence.”
The university said Monday night that Providence police were requesting interviews with everyone who had been at Barus. & Holley Building, the physics and engineering center where the shooting took place, on Friday or Saturday.
“Even an incidental detail can be helpful in the investigation,” the school said in an update.
State officials shared the FBI poster overnight seeking information.

Gov. Dan McKee said he had directed the Rhode Island State Police, which is assisting in the investigation, to “continue to provide all necessary investigative and patrol support to the city and campus.”
“Like many of us who have been affected by the tragedy at Brown University this weekend, I am eager for the shooter to be identified, apprehended, and brought to justice,” McKee said in a statement announcing the reward Tuesday morning.
