Three people have been hospitalized, including a child and a woman in a wheelchair, after a Minivan drove the Kipona festival in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Monday.

It is not clear if the act was intentional at this time, according to the police. The driver is in custody and officials are investigating.

The Kipona Festival is an annual three -day event that is held during the weekend of Labor Day that celebrates the American native inheritance of the region.

During a press conference on Monday night, the Harrisburg Police Office, the police captain, Atah Akakpo-Martin, said the vehicle arrived through one of the barricades just after 6 pm when the festival ended.

The three people who were beaten include a 6 -year -old boy, who is in critical, said Harrisburg mayor Wanda Williams. The other two adults, a man in the city’s traffic engineering department and a woman who was in a wheelchair during the incident, are in stable conditions, said the mayor.

It is not clear if the driver was alone in the car or if the driver was injured at that time, authorities said. The photos of the scene show that the Red Minivan suffered damage to the front of the vehicle in the incident.

The minivan stopped after hitting multiple objects and driving by multiple blocks through the festival, police said.
